The team arrived on site to clean and prepare the elevator pit for waterproofing. The team disposed of trash, wires and fallen objects from the mod, and chiseled old hardened absorbent from the corner and floors. Once clear, we applied degreaser and scrubbed the floors and walls, followed by etching.
After cleaning, obvious voids and active leaks were plugged, and the first two layers of our waterproofing system was applied.
Cleaning of this elevator pit revealed what our initial inspection did not — that the jack does not have a cap to be sealed. It simply has metal plates covering the hole, allowing groundwater to flood the pit. A proper jack cap must be installed to waterproof this elevator pit.
A change order is being generated.
